General views on sex education
Sex education is one of those topics that causes a great deal of debate and tension, due to the nature of the subject. Many people across the country disagree on the appropriateness of teaching sex education to certain age groups, if at all, while others say it is very necessary in the interests of maturing children.
What are the main causes of these arguments? Firstly lies the basis of morality, and in a distinctly Christian country, many parents believe it is not morally upright to teach children sex education, saying that is much more healthy and natural to let children figure it out for themselves. Others state not that sex education is much of a bad thing, but more that it does not really need to be taught, and the time used to teach sex education should be used to focus more on better subjects instead.

Many parents are quite philosophical about the issue, and agree that all children have an inherent sexual awareness which grows naturally and begins in earnest once puberty begins. It has been a part of our successful evolution to naturally understand and accept sexuality as you develop, and as such, parents should not think it offensive to teach sex education in schools, especially when teaching can focus on good things like family planning and contraception. Besides, if you live in the western world you live in a world of massive sexuality, and you are exposed to sexual images and references every day, why should it matter if the issue is approached formally?
From the previous information the situation can seem quite black and white, but there are many more arguments that lie between the lines. For instance, if you agree with sex education, at what point does teaching at a certain age become acceptable? Furthermore, there are more religious schools which teach things that are not necessarily true, for instance that having sex before marriage is wrong.

In my opinion, sex education should be approached from schools, but so much of it needs to be overhauled. Teaching should not be too oppressive and conservative, or too liberal and free, like teaching different type of sex positions! It should be approached logically and from both the perspective of both genders, in a respectful and equal way. In many cases, what seems like a completely different topic, like Romeo and Juliet quotes about love, lie closer to sex than you would think, and this opens the door to teach about sex in realistic ways. Independent surveys and questionnaires should be conducted on the student populace over many year groups should be conducted so that the issues that are tackled are most relevant to what the students are worried about.
